To the readers who are following WNL - apologies for the
delay I thought I would be able to get four episodes done but due to personal
circumstances I could only finish two. Hopefully I will be back on track soon and the
posting of the next episodes will not be as long.
Thank you Geraldine for your kind words and support, your
comments make the effort worthwhile. I have heard about Mädchen in Uniform but
unfortunately have never seen it. I share your .. shall we say appreciation… of
a strict German matron and ASL’s Lady
Agatha was based on such a lady.
Maggie Smith’s character in Downton Abbey was
also a big influence, I often imagine her in an opulent bedroom dressed in a
high waisted girdle and long line bra with a hairbrush in her hand.
Oh dear .. I think I’d better go lie down for a while.
As I said I will try not to be as long next time and hope
you enjoy these two.
Carrie
Poor William! His corset so tight and skirts so full.
ReplyDeleteYou are wicked Carrie and do deserve the Downton Dame's hairbrush. Oh to be a maid at the feet of such a Lady, settling and smoothing her petticoat hems and running your fingers gently over the lacing of her exquisite boots lest you smudge the leather and are scolded once again. Regards Geraldine.
Dear Geraldine
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time and effort to comment, it’s very encouraging to get such feedback.
Yes I suppose I am but then aren’t we all? I hope readers are not disappointed that young women are not featured more prominently. But as I say in the “About Me” section, for me the allure of the mature lady – her figure requiring firm foundation garments as well as the experience she would no doubt possess – by far outweighs the obvious but transient charms of the younger women( no matter how beautiful).
Regarding your remark about being a maid at the feet of such a lady, I did an illustration a few years back with just such a theme. It may not be exactly as you describe but I think it is close. If I can find it I’ll post it.
Thanks again.
Carrie
